Apple the other day released the eMac, which is eSsentially a CRT monitor iMac with a different casing, 17" monitor, G4 processor, and a lower price. The "e" means for Education only. Sorry, you'll have to buy that drool-inducing flatpanel iMac instead. -David

Lord of the Rings. Maybe not a Mac thing, but... 30 Apr 2002, 10:26pm
I just finished reading the first half of the second book of Lord of the Rings. Not that I haven't read it before (this is my third time of seriously reading the trilogy), but it was very good. I got the hardcover trilogy with film pictures on the dustcovers. I was considering buying it in paperback, but I knew those would not last nearly as long as these will. You can buy it at Amazon.com today. -David

My old mouse had one button. I wanted more. It didn't have a scrollwheel. I wanted one. The cord on my old mouse was too short for iBooks. I wanted one with a cord at least 2 feet long. Kensington's PocketMouse Pro will work just great for me.

The latest version of Mac OS X - 10.1.3 - is available now via your Software Update control panel. It fixes some incompatibilies with various digital hub things. It works just fine for me.
