Image is Everything By Joey Cooper Apple pulled another trick out of it's engineering hat: a new family of displays in stunning crystal-clear enclosures. The 17 inch Apple Studio Display CRT at the price of $499, the 15 inch Apple Studio Display flat panel at the price of $999 and the 22 inch Apple Cinema Display at the hefty sum of $3,999. ![]() The Apple 17 inch Studio Display from the side/photos courtesy Apple
Apple says their 17 inch Apple Studio Display features a natural flat diamondtron CRT, for extraordinarily sharp text and ColorSync calibration to keep colors accurate over time. A "Theater Mode" has been added to provide increased screen brightness for viewing of full screen iMovie, DVD or QuickTime movies. The 15 inch Apple Studio Display provides a crisp and very bright picture. On the high-end, Apple is offering their 22 inch Apple Cinema Display flat panel. It is the largest all-digital LCD flat panel display ever brought to market and offers a pure digital interface, an extra wide viewing angle and support for true 16.7 million saturated colors, making it perfect for even the most demanding graphics-intensive applications, according to Apple. The monitor is ideal for viewing two full pages of text and graphics, which excites many designers and people in the print industry. -Joey Cooper wishes he had a Cinema Display for page layout.
