The Phillips Files #6 --
Planned Controversy -
Got your attention and increased
ratings! While everyone who's ever watched PCTV [ZDTV] and seen that "Silicon Spin" trash, basically knows enough not to watch it; it is just a perverse, one sided, peecee fanatic's paradise. It wasn't much of a surprise to hear the host is also sexist and tasteless. However; I found it frustrating and nauseating to here this so called "controversy" [when he insisted the iBook was girly] increased the number of Mac viewers. Geez! There are enough peecee fanatical fools out there annoying Mac users already. I do not understand the need and/or want of any Mac users voluntarily choosing to watch/listen to another annoying, misinformed, commercial ad believing a classless, peecee fanatic. He's not going to get fired, reprimanded or talked to about his actions; he's probably going to ask for and get a raise for increasing his ratings. Oh; PCTV will make amends by having some MacWorld people on more often - big deal! I've already expressed my opinions on MacWorld several times and in a couple of different articles/places. If they really want to make amends for their peecee fanatical interpretation of the computer world - petition them to get a "truly" reputable Mac enthusiast, evangelist, and expert [independent of the ZD Inc. grasp] to have their own "Mac Hour" show; at least once a week, during "prime time"! Let the "total" Mac truth be heard; not the distorted, half-truths they are use to propagating. And they also need to get someone who is, at least, Mac neutral to do their so-called pseudo-"news", someone that can mention Mac and Apple news without a disgusted look and/or frown. And how about mentioning Apple and Mac news as part of the general garbage that is put out anyway. There are days when Apple "outperforms" a lot of the peecee companies whose stock increases are boldly mentioned as the "leaders" in tech stocks.
I grow really tired of hearing that Mac users are the computer "brand" fanatics. We are nothing but a "cult" of nerds that don't know when to quit. I've never attended a Mac meeting of any kind let alone a "cultist", meet you at midnight, wear a hooded outfit, we're sacrificing a Pentium III to the computer gods, pagan ritual type meeting - and really wouldn't want to. I've never strolled into a peecee chat room just to insult and annoy; but, while researching some articles on chat rooms, I found a lot of misinformed peecee users constantly popping into Mac Chat rooms, seemingly, just to express their stupidity, interrupt and otherwise annoy. During the same research, I spent a lot of time in and out of peecee chat rooms, as a silent observer, and never saw a Mac user disrupt the conversations taking place in those rooms.
No! I'm not going to participate in "PCTV's" half-baked schemes to increase viewers. I'm not even going to turn on that channel [unless, of course, I really need to nauseate myself and do some really "twisted and/or distorted and/or demented" research]. Why should anyone; including the average peecee user. These are the cultists, these are the people trying to force misinformation and distortions down the throats of the general public to convert them into their "cult of peecee fanaticism" with 24 hours a day, seven days a week TV and internet reinforcement of their misguided beliefs. Granted; "Freedom of Speech" is a given in the United States; but, a 24 hour peecee advertisement and peecee "butt-kissing", not even close to being cleverly disguised as "real TV", is a pitiful waste of a lot of broadcasting equipment. And, I suppose, in its own strange way - these articles are doing more to increase their viewership than discouraging people from watching. So, unless definitely needed, I'll do my best to refrain from even mentioning their existence. ZiffDavisTeleVision; from the same wonderful San Francisco Bay area that gave us "Jim Jones". {Humm... Davis - Jones - Gates - Satan, all consonant, vowel, consonant, vowel, consonant - - coincidence or aliases???}
Thank You - and as one final note - this will be the last article I write on this old 7100 PowerMac - the G3/450 I ordered & paid for should be here "SOON" and I can't wait to brag about it! With my increased "power", maybe it's time to insist on an increase in "pay". Let's see; according to benchmark ratings I reviewed - I should be getting about a 1700% increase in overall performance - a 1700% increase in pay should accompany it!! [Right!!!] R.P.
