A "CAP & Dad" Review

 Apologies to Humongous Entertainment

First off, I need to apologize to the people at Humongous Entertainment. It seems somewhere between the reviewing of this title and the posting of this review, it got misplaced and wasn't properly sent in to be posted in a timely manner.

Spy Fox 2 - Some Assembly Required

Spy Fox 2 is another search-and-find-specific-items-to-accomplishs-specific-tasks sort of game. It does, however, requires more complex problem solving than the FreddiFish or the Putt-Putt titles - that is why it is labeled for older children.

The premise of this Spy Fox title is that Spy Fox must think his way through a World's Fair to locate the off switch and secret code to shut off a giant robot dog before it activates. Sounds simple enough, but accomplishing this takes time and will provide your young thinkers with hours of entertainment as well as sneaking in some educational problem solving skills.

Although the problems are too complex for CAP (my son) to actively solve, he enjoyed investigating and playing with the animations until trying to figure it out got too frustrating for him. He does enjoy returning to the CD, so I suppose it his stubborn streak is to try and solve it.

Final Thoughts

My biggest complaint with Humongous Entertainment titles is with their ability to create titles that are child's mind specific. How they manage to make problem solving so much fun for children and so frustrating for adults (me) is incredible. I did manage to get further than CAP did (this time), but I still haven't completed the challenge. I think I'll wait until he gets older and can solve it for me.

Again, it is fun, entertaining and educational and well worth the price. Just be careful to have a child within the recommended age range of 5 - 10 years old. However, I believe it is closer to a 7 - 10 years old, I suppose it depends on your specific child.

Pros:

Nice problem solving, fun and entertaining.

Cons:

Age range seems to be a bit closer to 7-10 years old.
